We got to Senegal around 1 pm, and those at the Senegal border didn’t care about us coming to help their kids. They kept us for 3hrs that we must pay 55,000 CFE, and the driver helped us pay the money, getting to the Gambia border around 5 am on Friday, the same day of our flight from Dakar to Nigeria. On getting to the border, we met a custom officer who told us the border was closed; he asked us to come and rest till the morning after seeing how dirty we looked and hearing we had spent four days on the road. He opened the reception for us and said he would allow us to take our bath in their bathroom; he boiled water for us; we dropped all our bags and were able to refresh after four days; the feeling was indescribable. Around 7 am, the immigration officer insisted we must pay, and we had to, but that didn’t discourage us; the same officer who helped us got us kids, to share our gifts with, then we left.
The driver arranged another car to take us to the lake, where we could cross to Senegal and get a bus to Dakar, and we almost missed our flight because of the language barrier. Still, God made a way. We got to Nigeria on Saturday morning and went straight to Makoko, where we fed over 200 children and gave them all the items left from the Hope Tour. All team members departed on Sunday and safely got to their various destinations.
